Jalen Duren

Jalen Anthony Duren (born November 18, 2003) is an American professional basketball player and a defensive anchor for the Detroit Pistons. Known for his freakish athleticism and physical dominance, Duren has quickly evolved from a raw prospect into one of the league’s premier double-double machines.

Duren is enjoying a career-defining season, having recently been named a 2026 NBA All-Star reserve and an invitee to the Slam Dunk Contest.

Amateur Dominance & Reclassification

Duren’s ascent was accelerated by his decision to reclassify from the 2022 to the 2021 high school class, where he was ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the country. After a standout tenure at Montverde Academy, he played one collegiate season for the Memphis Tigers.

At Memphis, Duren averaged 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, earning AAC Freshman of the Year honors. His ability to anchor a defense and dominate the glass led Memphis to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in nearly a decade.
