Tyler Christopher Herro (born January 20, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard, Herro has evolved from a prolific bench scorer into a central pillar of the Heat’s offensive strategy. Known for his confidence, shot-making ability, and playmaking growth, he has become one of the most recognizable faces of the “Heat Culture” era.
Born and raised in Greenfield, Wisconsin, Herro’s basketball journey was defined by an early commitment to skill development. At Whitnall High School, he became a scoring sensation, averaging 32.9 points per game as a senior. Initially committed to the University of Wisconsin, Herro made the controversial decision to de-commit and sign with the University of Kentucky under John Calipari.
In his lone season at Kentucky (2018–19), Herro proved he was more than just a shooter. He averaged 14.0 points and was the only Wildcat to start all 37 games. He earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors and a reputation for hitting “clutch” free throws, shooting 93.5% from the line.
The Miami Heat selected Herro with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. His impact was immediate and historic.
Tyler Herro is playing the best basketball of his career. He is currently averaging 24.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
Recent Performance and Milestone:
Herro is a “three-level scorer.” He possesses a quick-trigger jumper, an improved mid-range pull-up, and the ability to finish with floaters over rim protectors. His footwork and ability to come off screens draw comparisons to players like Devin Booker. While defense was a concern early in his career, his defensive rating has steadily improved as he has added strength to his frame.
Herro is a prominent figure in the “intersection of sports and fashion.” He has appeared in several high-fashion campaigns and is known for his elaborate “tunnel walk” outfits. He has two children with his partner, Katya Elise Henry. Off the court, he is an avid golfer and has several major endorsement deals, including with Nike and Hublot.
