Shaedon Sharpe

Shaedon Sharpe

Shaedon Sharpe (born May 30, 2003) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers. Standing 6 feet 5 inches with a dynamic 7-foot wingspan, the London, Ontario native has evolved into one of the NBA’s most explosive offensive weapons. As of February 2026, Sharpe is experiencing a true breakout season, cementing his status as the cornerstone of Portland’s rebuilding era.

Early Life

Sharpe’s path to the NBA was famously unconventional. After dominating the Canadian high school circuit at H.B. Beal, he transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy (Kansas) and later Dream City Christian (Arizona). By 2021, he was the consensus No. 1 recruit in the class of 2022.

He reclassified and enrolled early at the University of Kentucky in January 2022. Despite immense hype, he never played a minute for the Wildcats, opting to declare for the draft based on his high school and EYBL credentials. This “mystery man” status made him the most intriguing prospect of his class.

NBA Career

Portland Trail Blazers (2022-Present)

The Trail Blazers selected Sharpe with the 7th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

  • Early Years: His rookie and sophomore seasons were defined by highlight-reel dunks and flashes of elite shot-making. He averaged 9.9 points as a rookie and jumped to 15.9 points in his second year.
  • The Leap: By the 2024–25 season, Sharpe became a full-time starter, improving his three-point consistency and defensive awareness.

International and Legacy

Sharpe is a key part of the “Golden Era” of Canadian basketball. He helped Canada win a Silver Medal at the 2019 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship and remains a focal point for the senior national team’s future Olympic cycles. Known for his quiet demeanor and legendary verticality, Sharpe is frequently compared to high-flying guards like Vince Carter and J.R. Smith.
